Get Involved: Volunteer with the Friends of Parker River!
Your time and skills are invaluable to the Friends of Parker River National Wildlife Refuge. Whether you can offer a few hours once in a while or a few hours on a regular basis, we would love your help! Volunteering is a rewarding way to meet new people who share your interests while protecting the special environment of the Parker River NWR.

Outreach
Post social media content to help spread our message.
Help coordinate events, including lecture series, roving naturalist opportunities, and historical walking tours.
Help us build partnerships with local groups and organizations.
Generate interest in refuge volunteer tasks, such as Plover Wardens, invasive species control, and beach clean-ups.
Assist with the recruitment of new members.
Fundraising
Identify grant funding sources and write applications.
Support the Hellcat Trail Boardwalk Plank Fundraiser by photographing planks and transporting them to and from the engraver.
Create additional fundraising opportunities to support our mission.
Habitat Projects
Remove invasive plant species that threaten the native plants of the refuge.
Participate in beach clean-ups.
Perform general landscape and infrastructure maintenance for trails and boardwalks.
Visitor Services
Greet and orient visitors at the Parker River NWR Visitor Center.
Lead guided tours via bike, kayak, or van.
Help monitor and maintain boardwalks, trails, parking lots, and roadsides.
Staff annual events like Let's Go Outside and the Eagle Festival.
Assist refuge staff with existing environmental programs or help create new ones.
Become a Plover Warden and help protect our threatened Piping Plovers.
