Saturday, November 14, 2026 — Discover the Hidden Cranberry Bogs of Plum Island
Parker River National Wildlife Refuge has many cranberry bogs hidden in the dunes of Plum Island. Just in time for Thanksgiving, join Ellie Bailey, Bill Gette and Janet Hickey for a short guided hike to one of the refuge's most productive bogs, and learn about the natural and social history of these beautiful places.
What to Expect
We'll meet at Parking Lot #1 on the refuge and carpool from there to the bog. Your guides will share the natural and social history of these unique wetlands along the way.
Participants are welcome to bring a quart bag and pick some berries for their own Thanksgiving treats. Dress for the weather and wear waterproof footwear, since the bog is wet.
